Reflection: As described in the ”Future” section of the My Great Story page I hope to enter graduate school to obtain a PhD in biochemistry, or a related field. I have a strong skillset as an undergraduate having many hours operating high end analytical instruments such as Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography(UHPLC), Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy(GC-MS) and a few other instruments. I have also designed a number of my own research projects and experimental procedures. During my sophomore year I also took a course in medicinal chemistry where I gained a proficient understanding of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and learned proficient skills in Computer Aided Drug Design (CADD). My CV details the coursework and extracurricular activities I have participated in. Progressing through my degree along with having the opportunities and experiences to conduct and present my own research has both given me some preparation for the biochemistry industry and showed me that this is a field I want to pursue.
Within my CV is evidence towards my current abilities as a graduate with a bachelors in biochemistry. My completion of both curricular and extracurricular activities demonstrates a competence in interpreting and writing scientific research, responsibility, discipline and adaptability. I still require skills to improve within the field, either through temporary lab positions, internships or entry level graduate positions to further improve my abilities and experience. In terms of analytical machinery, I have a great foundation to become proficient in real world use and application of said machinery. Acquiring this additional experience will allow me to transition from the student level to the professional level.
SMART Goals
1.) Secure a laboratory internship or temp position within the next 6 months.
2.) Build professional networking connections in the biochemistry field over the next 6 months.
3.) Get into Contact and establish plans for graduate school within the next 6 months.
